Peter Wesley Huntoon

Renowned researcher and author, Mr. Huntoon holds SPMC member #662. He was awarded an honorary life membership in 2016. He specializes in researching federal records pertaining to currency issues at the U. S. National Archives and Bureau of Engraving and Printing certified proofs of U. S. currency that are housed in the National Numismatic Collections in the Smithsonian Institution. A prolific author for many numismatic publications, he is a regular contributor to Paper Money. He has won many SPMC literary awards and was the recipient of the Forrest Daniel Excellence in Literature award in 2009. He was awarded an SPMC president's award in 1980 and 1994 and the Nathan Gold Memorial award in 1983. He was awarded an ANA President's award in 2003. He was the co-author of National Banknote Issues of 1929-1935 that was published by the SPMC as well as Territorial and U.S. Large Size National Banknotes published in 1995.   He has been teaching, or co-teaching, the National Bank Note course at the American Numismatic Association annual summer seminar of numismatics for a number of years.
